Wallace Frank Hill
June 1833 - 1910

Wallace Frank Hill was my paternal great Grandfather. He moved to Chateaugay from
Vermont  with his father
Heman, and family in 1838 when he was 5 years old, and became
one of the towns most successful farmers and prominent citizens.

Listed in 1880 census as Wallis aged 47 (census takers were  often not fully literate), with wife Mary 49 and
Hattie 15, Francis W. (actually Frank) over age 13, and Nettie L 11 years old.

Listed with his wife Mary in 1900 census. Born June 1833, married 36 years with 3 children, two living.

The newspaper obituary from the Chateaugay record is not available, but this obituary is from the MALONE
FARMER newspaper 9/14/1910, It reads -

Hill- - In Chateaugay September 5, from the effects of shock Wallace Hill aged 77
Mr. Hill was one of the best known and estimable farmers of Chateaugay, having resided for 45 years  on the
farm where he died. He had been a resident of Chateaugay for 72 years. Says the Record “ Mr. Hill enjoyed
the highest confidence of his fellow townsmen and he was a man whose honesty and integrity were never
questioned.”
He is survived by his widow , one daughter, Mrs. William Collins of Burke, and one son, Frank who resides at
home.
