Jonathan Hill was my paternal great -great -great- grandfather. Jonathan was a member of the
Vermont Militia during the Revolutionary war.
Little information is available about his wife Comfort (a popular name for colonial women).
Jonathan and Comfort lived in Georgia township, Chittendon County (which later broke off and
formed Franklin County) Vermont.

- Birth: Before 1755

New York under a 112 acre land grant for his service in the War of 1812)

Jonathan Hill is listed in the Rev War rolls in 1780 for Bennington Co, VT. Later in 1783 a Zimri Hill is listed in
the rolls with many of the same people who are listed with Jonathan in 1780 & also a Joshua Carpenter. Zimri is
listed in 1790 in Chittenden Co, VT  as also is Jonathan.

Jonathan bought 50 acres of lakefront property from (General) Ethan Allen in Georgia Township on 5 July
1788. He mortgaged and repurchased 15 acres the next year to David Campbell, then sold half the land to
Reuben Hurlbut.

1790 census for Georgia, Chittenden Co, VT (Franklin Co came from Chittenden) lists Jonathan Hill:
2 males over age 16, 4 males under age 16, and 2 females. Next to him is listed Elizabeth Hill 2 females.
Could this be Jonathan's Mother?

1800 census lists him with Reuben and Jeremiah Hill, as well as Sylvester White.
His family is listed as: male 1 under age 10, 1 over age 45, fem 3 under age 10, 1 over age 45

In 1803 he also purchased Lot 102 (100 Acres) of Georgia Twp from the Tax Collector for $1.56 of back taxes;
formerly property of David Maxfield Jr.

1810 census lists many new Hill families besides Jonathan and Reuben, probably the next generation starting
families - Oliver, Moses, Truman, Simon, Justus/Hestes(?). Data for Jonathan is: male 1 age between 10-16, 2
between 16-26, 1 over 45,  females  2 between 10-16, 1 between 16-26, 1 over 45.

Listed in 1820 census for Georgia, VT as: male 1  over 45, fem 1 between 10-16, 1 over 45 with 1 in Mfg.

Jonathan sold 30 Acres of land to his son,
Heman Hill on October 12, 1824 for $330.

In the 13 April 1825 deed (book 5, pages 465, 479) for the old home from Jonathan to Lyman Hill for $1000.

Jonathan and Lyman Hill signed a contract of Indenture, agreeing that Lyman would pay all debts and care for
his parents, Jonathan and Comfort Hill, for the remainder of their lives and allow them to live on the property
deeded to him by his father. And that he would care for and maintain the property as well.
The same day, he sold to Heman the 3 acres that Heman was living on for $32.

There is a land record for Jonathan in 1831, indicating he lived until after that.

There is no listing for Jonathan in the 1830 census, but in 1830 there is a Alden Hill listed with a male there
between 60-70. Alden may have been a son of Jonathan, & Jonathan could have been living with him..
